This is a buying comparison, not a hands-on group test. We have not run these five mowers side by side. The specifications below come from current manufacturer information, while prices are dated seller snapshots.

Side-by-side comparison

How the five current models differ

Lawn coverage and slope limits can rule a mower in or out quickly. Cutting dimensions are shown only where we could confirm them from current manufacturer information.

Five wire-free or cordless-boundary mowers to compare

They are ordered by the price recorded on 17 September 2026. Check the seller page for today's price and stock, and the manufacturer page for the latest specifications.

Edge trimming

“Cuts to the edge” can mean very different things

Some mowers simply follow the boundary closely. Others use an offset deck, and a newer generation is beginning to add extending cutting or trimming arms.

If edging is the reason you are buying, check the actual cutting mechanism rather than relying on a headline claim. Even a mower sold with an edge-cutting mode may still leave grass beside walls or awkward borders that needs manual trimming.

The current products above are useful alternatives, but we are not claiming they use the newest active-arm designs.

Five checks that matter more than the marketing headline

Lawn area

Use the mowable area rather than the total plot size, and leave some headroom instead of buying at the absolute limit.

Boundary system

Check whether the mower uses vision, positioning signals, mapping or another setup, and whether that suits your garden layout.

Slopes and passages

Compare the manufacturer's slope and minimum-passage limits with the awkward parts of your lawn.

Edges

If manual strimming is the pain point, verify the exact cutting mechanism rather than relying on words such as “edge” or “border”.

Support and returns

Robot mowers can need firmware, mapping and physical troubleshooting. Check seller support and return terms before ordering.

Buyer questions

Robot lawn mower FAQs

Do wire-free robot mowers still need setup?

Yes. Removing the perimeter wire makes installation easier, but you still need to check lawn size, slopes, narrow passages, obstacles, navigation requirements and charging-station position.

Do these mowers trim right to the edge?

Not necessarily. Close boundary following, offset cutting decks and newer active trimming arms are different things. Check the exact model specification if reducing manual edging is important to you.

Can I buy a mower with an active edge-trimming arm in the UK now?

Several manufacturers have recently shown active trimming-arm designs, but UK availability for those exact new models is still developing. The products on this page are current alternatives and are not presented as having the same mechanism.

Why are the prices dated?

Prices can move quickly. We show when the price was checked so you can see how fresh it is, then send you to the seller for the current figure and full specification.

How we keep the comparison useful

We only state features we can support from current manufacturer or seller information. A product being available for sale does not mean it is automatically popular, good value or right for your garden.
