In this comparison, the PETKIT PUROBOT ULTRA goes furthest: PETKIT documents automatic cleaning plus waste packing, sealing and replacement-bag loading. You still remove the sealed bag yourself. Health monitoring
Useful early signals, not a home diagnosis machine
These products can make trends easier to notice: how often a cat uses the tray, changes in stool or clump appearance, unusual vocalisation and which cat used the box. That can give you better information to act on.
The important boundary is that a camera or app cannot tell you why a change happened. If a cat is straining, repeatedly visiting the tray, producing little or no urine, showing blood, vomiting, becoming lethargic or otherwise seems unwell, use veterinary advice rather than waiting for an app score.

Smart litter box FAQs
Can a smart litter box tell if my cat is ill?
No. These products can record patterns and flag changes, but they cannot diagnose disease. A change in urination, stool, behaviour or appetite that concerns you should be discussed with a vet.
Is an AI camera useful in a multi-cat home?
Potentially. Facial recognition and weight sensors can make it easier to separate one cat's litter-box activity from another's, but recognition quality and app features still need to work reliably in your home.
Do all automatic litter boxes use normal cat litter?
No. The Crystal Duo requires PETKIT's Crystal Litter Set, while the MAX PRO 2 and ULTRA use compatible clumping litter within PETKIT's size guidance.
Are these hands-off?
They reduce scooping, but they still need litter top-ups, waste removal, cleaning and periodic maintenance. The ULTRA goes furthest by packing and sealing waste automatically, but you still remove the sealed bag.
